Here's my first

During my first year at college, I didn’t sign up for any club. I thought that the basketball and chess teams would keep me busy enough. After all, they sure did so at the time of club recruitments. But they fizzed out soon after, and watching everyone else be a part of a club and run around doing the activities assigned to them got me feeling a little jealous. Of course, not all those activities looked very appealing. I remember that the Daniels club had a task where members were asked to make cards (or something of that sort), and I was thankful I didn’t show up for the interview to that club.

One of the activities that did get me jealous though was the blogging aspect of SAASC. I wanted to be a part of such a vibrant online community and get some advice on getting better at writing. Unfortunately, the year I joined SAASC (last year) turned out to be one without any activity on the dream compass.

Here’s to bringing the blog back on track. This first week is going to be a bit dull as most newbies won’t have the courage to write what comes to their mind without being given a fixed direction. So for the first week, read the posts that the seniors will be making. Try to post comments, go through the previous archives. And if anyone still doesn’t understand any of the basics, i.e. making an account here, making a post/comment etc, approach your group leaders.

God knows they could use some more responsibility.

To the guys with the authority to do so: Think we can change the blog theme (colour scheme)? I’m sure we can find a better one if we search for it.

And can we please get the Verve schedule on the blog?

Yes yes We're back, (Its about time!)

Big round of thankyous to Gagan, Tanya, Ishita and Abhay for finally getting this off the ground.
The new themes up, so here's to a great beginning.

PS All people with no invites that happen to pass by, leave your email Id in the comments, and you will have your invite in no time.

Guess who's back? And it's not Shady.

Ahoy Maties!

Arrr...All aboard for a tumultuous journey into the mystical depths of literary brilliance....of narratives...of poems and of ballads...of discussions that made us get envied in other colleges (SAASC blog really got that famous!)

And that's why it shall come from back the dead..to be that place again...lively and kicking.. How we do this....well read further!

And newbies! ..join in...welcome to the club...You are the people I wanna see post before anybody else...and you will receive audience from not only the current members but also the Literary Gods of SAASC... the alumni...people whose writing we ogled to..everybody will recieve comments and even ways to how you could improve your writing yada yada.....

so matlab kaka jo hai ki likhna toh hai jo hai ... :P

How Do We Start, you say?

Okay! phew...so we decided to not rack our brains (procrastinate much you ask?) and throw the gauntlet at you...

The first TOPIC is WHATEVER Comes to your mind....Write about anything you want..anything that you feel strongly enough about to pen down...

What do I get to do this?

Another important question..I know...The answer can be anything from the following...choose the one which you like:
1.You get to show your creativity and post because you like to write.
2.You get a treat from me, vaibhav, kshitij or anybody else if we are broke..IF you're article is chosen as the best...
3.You get nothing. (lol jk)

P.S. we are working on other ways ....like getting your articles published ...in our college magazines and special dream compass compilations (already happening) or even in a public one which is circulated in Chandigarh area etc..

Okay Articles...I get it..But what more?
If you are still reading this post..kudos..Thanks for making it this far...You must be really interested :P
Alright jokes apart, I want people to post not just articles but everything that they wish to discuss ...this could be anything they want...from the wackiest stories that start like I got wasted last night... to discussing some random article from a newspaper..

Like for example

1. Formal Newspapers... like new york times..cnn-ibn ..blah blah

For example, today , BBC reported that Delhi Commonwealth Games Village is in a filthy state (*shakes head*)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-11379020

So I post the link ..and write x amount of lines on what I think about it...BUT! you have to incite others to discuss about it too..Now how you do that is entirely your agenda (you can get our help if you wish to)

2. Youtube Videos.
You see a video on youtube...about music...of Obama's presidential debate ...or what not......put it here (no cheesy business though!..I m gonna delete it within 2 seconds) ...something that you wish to discuss again...

3. My personal favourites like uncylopaedia.com ...or www.newsthatmattersnot.com... (satire?)
If you like that kind of creative writing..I d be glad to see it come up...

So the keyword here: WRITE!

WRITE about anything...This is your platform..now how you use it is your prerogative.... :D
So hope to hear a keyboard punching away those enthralling characters..

Cheers.
Gagan

I wrote this in my maths exam....

Even if you are awake for the whole night,
Battling with every last question with all your might.
No matter how hard you try.....
Doing every thing to surpass the rest.
But the end is the same for all to see,
You are never gonna come out with glee.........
All your work all your pain,
Would stare you right in your face as it all goes to vain....

I want to go out today,
Just want to watch nature play....
All my work, all my labour has gone to waste....
I sucked at maths, couldn't even once taste
THe sweet satisfaction of succeding....
The answer to all my struggling.....
is a big disappointment, but what can I do or say......
Exams will come again one day.........
I'll try my level best again....
Only to fail once again......

Jack and Jill on India TV :)

Here is how the new Indian TV news channel India TV (Angrezi)would report the Jack and Jill nursery rhyme. All names (except those of Jack and Jill), are fictitious.

Prashant - TV Anchor
Two persons have been injured in a freak climbing accident. Jack and his companion Jill had gone up a hill to fetch a pail of water when Jack fell down and broke his crown. Jill came tumbling after. Live from the hill, our reporter, Amrita Shah, who was first to reach this spot for breaking news takes up the story.

Amrita Shah
Thank you Prashant(huffing and puffing). Well, as you say, two persons - Jack and Jill - had gone up a hill to fetch a pail of water. Suddenly, Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after. Prashant.

Prashant
Thank you Amrita. What do we know about the hill? are there any supernatural forces at work over there? is this the work of some heavenly forces? Is the world coming to an end?
[Headline appears at the foot of the TV screen: "" is our world coming to an end??"]

Amrita
we dont know too much about the hill. Jack was going up the hill to fetch a pail of water when he fell down and broke his crown. Jill came tumbling after
[Headline appears at the foot of the TV screen: "hill breaks crown of pail-boy Jack"]

Prashant
What news of Jack and Jill? Who were they? what was their work ? wat was their nationalities? were they pakistani? were they spies?

Amrita
Prashant, it seems that Jack had gone up the hill to fetch a pail of water. We know nothing about the pail, or how heavy it was but it seems that Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after. I have here with me, an eyewitness to the accident, Mr Shahid Trivedi. Mr Shahid, tell us what you saw.

Shahid Trivedi
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after.
[Headline appears at the foot of the TV screen: "Boy and girl tumble down hill. Water spilled"]

Amrita
Jack and Jill. What do we know about them? Are they brother and sister? Are they married? Just what were they doing on the hill together?

Shahid Trivedi
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail a water.

Amrita
And what happened next?

Shahid Trivedi
Jack fell down and broke his crown

Amrita
Go on.

Shahid Trivedi
And Jill came tumbling after.

Amrita
Prashant, there you have it. Two people innocently going about their business to fetch a pail of water when one of them falls down, breaks his crown, and the other comes tumbling after. Back to you in the studio Prashant.
[Headline appears at the foot of the TV screen: "Water errand ends in tragedy"]

Prashant
I have with me in the studio now, Professor Chandrashekar Belagare from the Indian Institute of Applied Hill Sciences. Professor: a hill; Jack; Jill; a pail of water. A tragedy waiting to happen? Where was the police? a total lapse of national security!!

Professor
Well that depends on the hill, the two persons, the object they were carrying and the conditions underfoot. Let us look at the evidence so far.
Jack and Jill
Went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down
And broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.....

Clearly, one would suspect that if Jack’s fall was severe enough to break his crown then the surface of the hill must have been slippery or unstable. But I think we’re overlooking something quite fundamental here. Who was carrying the pail? Jack fell down and broke his crown and – this is the key – Jill came tumbling after. If Jack and Jill had been carrying the pail together, would they not have fallen at the same time? The fact that Jill came tumbling after suggests that Jack lost his footing first and perhaps knocked Jill over as he slipped.

Prashant
Professor thank you very much. So there we have it, two persons – Jack and Jill – went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after. Later in the programme, Osama bin Laden captured in Afghanistan, President Bush says rent-boy menage-a-trois was "just a brief lapse of judgement", and Pakistan launches nuclear warheads against key Indian cities. But next up, join us after the break for a studio discussion about hills, boys and girls and whether water-fetching trips should be supervised.

We’ll be right back...

Wake Up - Hello, How Ya been?

Hi.
I'm an old man now. I've seen some. I've seen more.
I'll see some, still.

Egad! This isn't about us seniors. This blog wasn't about/for us seniors!
It's for & about you guys!

Let's try this again.

Come together. Yes. Blog, once more.
A story or two. A sincere trickle of creativity. Of all that SAASC stands for, has stood for, MUST stand for. Begin the movement again. It'll be in full motion before you know it.

I'm bad at motivational speeches, so I'll let the passion do the rest.

Blog, kids, blog!
